STEM Supplies & New Makerspace

posted May 18, 2016, 8:03 PM by Karen Dockery   [ updated Aug 22, 2016, 6:15 PM ]

This year, teachers at MCES are going to begin integrating STEM activities in their lessons. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. To help teachers with these activities, Mrs. Dockery is adding a “Makerspace” to our library! One definition of a makerspace says “a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore, and discover using a variety of tools and materials.” (renovatedlearning.com)

Mrs. Dockery is asking for your help in collecting supplies so they will be easily available for the teachers to use with these STEM projects. If you can contribute any of the following materials, we would greatly appreciate your help!

·      Empty toilet paper rolls

·      Empty paper towel rolls

·      Straws

·      Pipe cleaners

·      Duct tape

·      Masking tape

·      Yarn

·      Craft sticks

·      Metal paper clips

·      Packs of balloons

·      Rubber bands

·      Toothpicks

·      Play Doh

·      Plastic cups ( 3 oz. & 8 oz.)

·      Note cards

Thank you in advance for any donations!!!
